Event: Second book signing with Bol Gai Deng scheduled for December 6

November 30, 2018

On Thursday, December 6, the Department of African American Studies presents a second talk and book signing by Bol Gai Deng at 7:00 PM in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (room 215) in the University Student Commons.

Deng, a VCU alumnus, arrived in the United States as a Sudanese refugee in 1999. He is now a long-time Richmond resident and has a degree from VCU in Homeland Security and Political Science. But he has not forgotten his heritage or community. He is a passionate advocate for African refugees, and is currently running for President of South Sudan as the Kush Democratic Majority Party candidate. Recently, he told his story to author Andrea McDaniel in Bol Gai Deng: Legacy of an African Freedom Fighter.
