The Department of African American Studies is pleased to announce that Grace Gipson, Ph.D., has been appointed secretary of the African American Intellectual History Society (AAIHS) executive board.

The AAIHS is an independent scholarly organization that aims to foster dialogue about researching, writing and teaching black thought and culture. AAIHS originally began as a blog founded by Christopher Cameron in early 2014. African American intellectual history is a growing and thriving subfield and the AAIHS and its blog, 'Black Perspectives,' are helping to fostering that growth for years to come. The AAIHS is open to scholars in all disciplines, including but not limited to African American history, literature, philosophy, art, dance and film.
