Mignonne Guy to serve on CDC's Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health

Mignonne Guy, Ph.D., chair of the Department of African American Studies, has been invited to serve on the CDC's Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health.

Mignonne Guy, Ph.D., chair of the Department of African American Studies, was recently asked to serve on the CDC's Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health. The Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health advises the secretary of the HHS, and the director of the CDC, on coordination of research, educational programs and other activities within the department that relate to the effect of smoking on human health, and on coordination of these activities with other federal, state, local and private agencies.

Guy also serves on the FDA's Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee, which advises the commissioner in discharging responsibilities as they relate to the regulation of tobacco products.
