New curated Instagram account focuses on depictions of Black girls and women in the media

A team led by African American Studies Professor Grace D. Gipson, PhD has launched Black Girl Magic in Media (@blackgirlmagicinmedia), an Instagram account described as a "curated site that shows the vast, creative representations of Black girls and women in media."

A team led by African American Studies Professor Grace D. Gipson, PhD has launched Black Girl Magic in Media (@blackgirlmagicinmedia), an Instagram account described as a "curated site that shows the vast, creative representations of Black girls and women in media." The project is being run by Dr. Gipson and student staff members Sanaa Banks, Raiat Haque, and Asia Heath.

Gipson is a Black future feminist/pop culture scholar whose research and teaching interests explore Black popular culture, digital humanities, representations of race and gender within comic books, Afrofuturism, and race and new media.
